Frontier Science & Technology Research Foundation, Southern Europe (FSE) is a non-profit foundation established in 2005 to help the design, conduct and reporting of clinical and translational research, although it does not directly perform clinical or medical research.
The complexity of regulatory, administrative, logistical, legal and financial issues, as well as the need for biostatistical, data management and computing expertise led to its activation. FSE was created in Southern Europe - Switzerland and Italy - modelled after Frontier Science & Technology Research Foundation (FSTRF), a non-profit research foundation established to advance the application of statistical science and data management in science, health care, and education. FSTRF is incorporated in the State of New York and has offices in Amherst, New York, Boston, Massachusetts and Madison, Wisconsin, all in the USA, as well as a European office in Scotland (Frontier Science (Scotland), Ltd.) Although the focus of FSE is oncology, FSE performs its activities in all fields of medical science, helping researches and/or advising the above mentioned institutions.
* In consideration of the fact that its object is of public interest, the foundation is exonerated from direct taxes on income and capital and from inheritance and donation taxes. As a consequence, donations performed in favour of FSE are deductible for tax purposes within the limits of Swiss law.
